At UFA, we take staff training & mentoring very seriously to support our coach education obligations.
Our development framework allows us to produce young coaches & learners organically, whilst supporting their pathway into coaching. Utilising a ‘hybrid’ approach to coach development & quality assurance, we are committed to recruiting experienced and established coaching professionals to support our ongoing development as a specialist football institution & model.
We are delighted to have developed a close relationship with Merrist Wood College, Guildford, to help provide coaching experience to Year 2 & 3 learners each year as part of their study programmes. The partnership allows us to offer a pathway and employability through coaching, and take part in our Coach Development Programme.
As we are committed to the ongoing education and upskilling of all our staff, our mentoring programme extends to evening and weekend activities in partnership with local clubs.
This allows us to work with coaches during competitive games or team training events.
We have a blended interactive method to coach mentoring which helps ensure continuity, as well as support coaches individual needs. We are able to offer guidance with coaching styles, differentiated approaches to coaching, intervention techniques, and strategies on how to motivate and challenge players. Managing and encouraging positive behaviours, developing safeguarding and communication form part of our broader mentoring model.
